Ah, Monsters. Capital M. I suspect my love of Monsters has its roots in my Sesame Street addiction, what with goofball Grover, the aptly named Harry, and that ravenous Monster of Ceremonies, Cookie Monster. Later it was fed by the fabulous book Faeries, with artwork by Alan Lee and Brian Froud. However, my Monster-love has limits. I have never seen a complete Alien/Aliens movie, and there are many other overly bloody offerings I have successfully sidestepped over the years. Naturally, since the Monsteroon series is intended for children, there won't be any blood or mess in this little series. Even had it been directed at adults, the gore would be very limited indeed. "North by Northwest," not "Psycho." Suspense, yes. I love to create suspense.
The creations you will meet here, in terms of the visuals, are a random collection of drawings and paintings I've done over the years, for this or that purpose. My challenge now is to loop them all together and create a cohesive, maybe even suspenseful, story. Of course there will also be the odd dose of Jonas humor. I certainly hope you'll enjoy. (And for fellow writers who appreciate the Monstrous, I'm open to collaboration if you review the illustrations and a brilliant story idea comes to you.)
